I find it ironical that Savita Halappanavar died the way she did. Simply because she hailed from a town in India that has a tertiary care hospital that has a kick-ass OBGYN department (I know , because I was taught obstetrics there)- that would have never let the termination of her pregnancy get to the point where it became a threat to her life.
Strange are the ways of the world.
Anyway, I was horrified to read how it all happened. And also very surprised, because I never knew that Ireland had these archaic abortion laws in spite of living right next door.
